I'm the person behind Beyond the Bland, and I've always had a soft spot for things that are a little unconventional.

I believe life's too short for boring cards, predictable greetings and taking everything too seriously. Sometimes you need a card that makes someone snort with laughter. Sometimes you need one that says what you're thinking but probably shouldn't say out loud.

That's where Beyond the Bland comes in.

I create gloriously unconventional greeting cards packed with bold colours, cheeky humour, sarcasm and the occasional questionable sentiment. Some are silly. Some are rude. Some are simply ideas that made me laugh and seemed too good not to turn into a card.

There's no grand philosophy behind it. I just think the world could do with a few more laughs, and a lot fewer boring greetings.

I use illustrations and images created by human artists, including public-domain clipart, to bring my ideas to life. I choose the artwork, develop the concept, combine the elements and create the finished greeting card designs myself.

Because creativity should be about imagination, a sense of humour and a little human ingenuity.
